A Turkey, Sawz-All and 1″ Chisel

Author: The Handyman

In perhaps the most holy of Handyman traditions, we here in the HandyFam take turns around the table on Thanksgiving Day and single out for heralding what we’re thankful for in the previous year.

With the holiday nearly upon us, The Handyman takes pause from his multiple endeavors, and considers and reflects. Unsurprisingly, the usual suspects quickly come to mind first … family, friends, health and all things of that sort and nature. Although yours truly is blessed in those arenas, one must dig a tad bit deeper into the innermost Handy-psyche, to uncover something beyond the mundane … to find that for which you’re extry thankful. So with that in mind, I present to you the top three things that The Handyman is especially grateful and appreciative.

1 – Mad Skills
Even though it may come across a bit arrogant, The Handyman’s blessed in his artful mad skills. There’s nothing like carving a golden-brown turkey like Gordon Ramsey, in front of the entire HandyClan, using a sawz-all and 1″ wood chisel.  Aye, that’s some mad skills.

2 – A Natural Pine Scent
When you’ve worked around wood for as long as The Handyman has, you begin to acquire the permanent odor of your most-commonly-used materials. Thank the HandyGods, I don’t reek of turpentine (except at the New Year’s celebration, when Grandpappy delivers a thumb-jug full of his secret recipe whiskey … that stuff’ll take the paint off your minivan).

3 – The HandyFans
And last, but certainly not least, The Handyman reserves a special place of thanks for all his HandyFans. I sincerely thank you all for your continued support and hope you all have a Thanksgiving filled with fun, football, carbohydrates and healthy doses of tryptophan, topped off with a most refreshing nap.
